I purchased a DELL U2414H.

I have my Macbook Air in clamshell mode connected via Displayport to my self-built Windows desktop PC via HDMI, but for some reason it doesn't have automatic input switching.

This is despite the fact that it has a wide range of input interfaces, including Displayport, MiniDisplayport, and two HDMI ports.

I usually connect my Macbook Air, but sometimes I also turn on my Windows PC.

Input switching normal steps

In that case, as a step

  1. Press any of the four touch buttons
  2. Press the third one from the left
  3. Press the second one from the left once to match the input signal
  4. Click the third one from the left once to select it
  5. Press the up or down button multiple times to select the desired input source
  6. Press the third one from the left once to confirm the switch

In fact, it takes six steps and the touch of a button.

This is very annoying.

If they are running simultaneously, there is to some extent no way around it, but it would be nice if it could at least switch automatically when there is only one input signal.

Apparently this isn't possible due to the specifications, but I found it possible to save a few steps.

summary

Since you can only set two shortcut keys, if you have two input devices, the above method can be used to solve the problem.

However, I'm sure there are some people who have more than three connected.

In that case, instead of setting the input device by default, use the previous step.Input Switching Selection MenuYou can also set it as a shortcut, so please give it a try.

Although it adds one more step, I think it would be smart to set the main input source as shortcut 1 and the input switching as shortcut 2.

In fact, after purchasing it, I am very satisfied with the monitor, except for this input switching issue. By solving this issue, it has become an even more favorite monitor.
